Visiting Norwich‎ > ‎

Number 47 Norwich, 47 St Giles Street, Norwich, NR2 1JR

For Harvest Moon 2016 we are moving to a brand new venue and saying a warm farewell to the Norwich Puppet Theatre. As many will probably realise this is because we are now finding it quite a squeeze in the puppet theatre. But don't, we are not moving far and we are staying in central Norwich and we have even found another place with great character in the form of Number 47, St Giles.

Number 47 is a beautiful and historic building in the heart of Norwich with its magnificent Georgian architecture. This magnificent building is Grade Two Listed and part of Norwich’s rich architectural heritage. It was originally built in the late 17th century by Mr Ruben Deaves and later sold to Horatio Bolingbrooke in 1848 the first Sheriff of Norwich. It is now being used as the Masonic Hall within Norwich, where Lodges meet up on a regular basis.

Getting to the venue

Number 47 can be found right in the heart of city of Norwich. You can travel here in a number of ways, including rail, bus and car. Norwich International Airport also allows connections by plane from around the UK, Europe and further.

For those wishing to drive, there are multiple large public car parks within an easy walking distance from the venue. These include St Giles, St Andrews, the Forum and Chapelfield. Being right in the heart of Norwich, the venue is on the main street and so the normal blue badge rules apply, with limited disabled parking out the front. There are multiple park and ride links around Norwich as well.

There are regular trains running to Norwich from London, Cambridge and other places through-out Norfolk. The Train station is around a short 20 minute walk from the venue, as both locations are in central Norwich. For those not able to walk that distance, there is a taxi rank outside the station, which can take you straight to the door.

The main bus links to the Norwich Bus Station, Castle Meadow and St Stevens street are a stones throw away from the venue. These connect local Norfolk transport links and national ones as well, such as those through National Express.
